Ideas for Travel Books

Favourite

Someone once said that a collection of author's travel books was incomplete if it did not include a piece on favourite destinations. Having visited 260 countries and territories, this does seem to be a good point. Perhaps I should publish such a book to include a selection of places from around the globe, which impressed me the most and mention sites in Brazil, Cuba, Fiji, Ghana and Madagascar, in particular.

Big Blue

Inspired by a second big trip to the islands of the Pacific Ocean and convinced by a group of travellers met on the journey, I decided to create a big collage-book from the various travels in the region. It will include the following islands: Rapa Nui, French Polynesia, New Caledonia, Vanuatu, Fiji, Samoa, Tonga, Cook Islands, New Zealand, Hawaii, Galapagos, Guam, Palau, Tuvalu, Norfolk Island, Nauru, Micronesia, Kiribati, Solomon Islands and Niue.

Everywhere (Almost)

This is an ambitious project to collate travel stories from all visited countries and territories in one mega travel photo book. This one will take a longer while to complete. Considering its size, I might need to upgrade my computer equipment before starting on this publication. Perhaps this particular book could be a good candidate for a properly published paper book.

Updates to the published Travel Books

Unique, European Capitals

Since the publication, I have been to the capital city of Tatarstan, Kazan, and the capital of Shetland, Lerwick, and I could add new chapters to this book already. However, I am planning in 2025 to go to the capitals of Montenegro and maybe Belarus (depending on the political situation), so I shall wait with the publication after I have more content to add...

Astonishing, Asia

I have a new material on Thailand from the trip at Christmas 2021 and New Year 2022 that can be added to the book already. I also finally went to Bangladesh, Irkutsk Republic to see Lake Baikal; Kurdistan (Iraq); Kuwait; Mongolia; Pakistan; Saudi Arabia; Syria, Tajikistan; and Yemen (Soqotra), which I will definitely write about. As with any book published with Apple Books, those who purchased the existing edition of the book, will get the updated, new edition for free, by simply clicking on the update the book button.

Awesome, Africa

This book is also rather overdue for an update with additions of ten new chapters on Algeria, Burundi, Equatorial Guinea, Guinea, Lesotho, Liberia, Mauritania, Nigeria, Sudan and the Soqotra Island (Yemen) visited in 2022, 2023 and 2024. As with any book published with Apple Books, those who purchased the existing edition of the book, will get the updated, new edition for free, by simply clicking on the update the book button.

Dear, Cape Verde

As the first edition of this book covered only the island of Sal, due to the breakdown of one of the Cape Verde's only three airplanes, it has been outdated. In 2023, I re-visited the archipelago and finally managed to explore São Vicente, Santo Antão, Boa Vista (and again Sal) of the windward islands, as well as Santiago (the capital) and Fogo of the leeward islands.

Imperfect, Indochina

Since the publication of the first edition of this book, I have been to Thailand again and visited a few more places, including: Phimai, Sukhothai, Chiang Mai, the Phuket Island, a few of the Phi Phi islands of the Maya Bay, even more islands of the Andaman Archipelago, such as the 'James Bond Island' (from "The Man with a Golden Gun" 1974 film) and the Koh Samui island.

Amazing, South America

Recent trip to Venezuela ought to find its own chapter in this book. It will take some time as this large book needs reformatting. A good amount of notes taken during the holiday have been consolidated and are ready for processing. Some photographs have also been pre-selected. What remains to be done is reformatting of the book, word processing and photo editing.
